FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BEAVER AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT SEEKS SENIOR RESIDENTS OF BEAVERCOUNTY FOR ORAL HISTORY INTERVIEWS

The Social Studies department of Beaver Area Middle-High School, is currently searching for people who are, or were, senior residents of Beaver County since the turn of the century. The purpose of this search is to find people who are willing to share information about life in Beaver County with social studies students for a special project working in conjunction with the Beaver Area Historical Museum and Mr. Charles Townsend, also of Beaver Area High School.

Groups of students will be conducting the interviews at various locations in the high school on a date not yet confirmed. Students will be asking questions about such topics as childhood memories, work-related memories, and social and town development.

In order to achieve a fair representation of the history of the county, we are looking for twenty-five to thirty participants. All participants are encouraged to bring items of Beaver County history to show at their interviews. All interviews will be recorded, summarized and donated to the Beaver Area Historical Museum following a presentation by the students at the end of the school year.

Those interested in participating in the sharing of local history with younger members of Beaver County and all those who may wish to research Beaver County in the future, should contact Charles Townsend, Greg Inge or Rodney Gernert at Beaver Area Middle-High School, at (724) 774-0251.
