The Bicentennial celebration in Beaver County generated an extra-ordinary number of publications related to the area's history. We wonder if any county in the state or nation could present a list that would come anywhere near to matching ours. Beginning with the 1972 reprinting of Caldwell's Atlas of Beaver County, by the Beaver County Historical Research & Landmarks Foundation, and occasional booklets by local historical societies, the flow of publications became a torrent during the three year period now closing.
The books and pamphlets listed below were published from 1974 to 1976, and are listed alphabetically by title, followed by the author or editor, and the sponsoring institution. Not included, but of interest, are booklets from neighboring communities such as Enon Valley and Leetsdale, reprints of histories of Lawrence and Washington Counties, and publications now in preparation from Rochester and Hopewell Township. The Beaver County Bicentennial Atlas, being readied for publication in the early summer of '77 will round out an excellent collection of Beaver County literature.
