Arnold McMahon's involvement in historic and community affairs were legion. His accomplishments were many and varied and the major one, his "Beaver County Albums I, II & III" received much publicity throughout the years.
But for those (of us) who had the pleasure of working with Arnold, the most memorable thing about him was the twinkle in his eye, the smile on his face and his demeanor as a gentleman.
Arnold was chairman of the county marker program and was instrumental in the placement of many of the markers at important locations throughout the county.
When the call was put out for Christmas stories for the 1990 winter edition of Milestones, although professing not to be a writer, he responded with a most charming contribution.
Arnold's church played an important part in his life. When, at any affair, someone was needed to give an invocation, he could be depended on for words of inspiration.
Many pictures from his vast collection of old photographs have appeared in local newspapers throughout the years, especially during the bi-centennial in 1976. We thank you Arnold for making us a little more aware of our past.
