Fred Dunlap
Milestones Vol 20 No 2 Summer 1995

Fred Dunlap died on the 2nd of May, 1995. Fred was not only a friend to all, he was a distinguished historian and very knowledgeable about local history. Fred was president of the Beaver County Historical Research & Landmarks Foundation for three years. He brought this organization through troubled times and set its course wisely into the future.

Fred was born in New Brighton, and grew up in Beaver Falls where he graduated from high school. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration at Geneva College. Fred was in the U.S. Army for four years, serving in Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines during World War 11. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his performance in military duty.

Fred retired from Pittsburgh DesMoines Steel Company in 1981. Later, he worked in Louisiana and other places. He was the owner of Sewickley Floral Design, a florist shop in Sewickley, at the time of his death.

Despite his busy life and his duties for the Foundation, Fred belonged to the Logstown Association and the Little Beaver Historical Society. He will be missed by the many friends he had made in the various organizations of which he was a member.
