Eagle Shot By Vanport Man

Milestones Vol 27. No. 1

American Eagle Shot By Raleigh Jordon Is Good Specimen.

A half grown American Eagle, measuring five feet five and one-half inches from tip of wing to tip of wing, was shot by Raleigh Jordon, of Vanport, yesterday afternoon along the Ohio River, a short distance south of Vanport. Displaying a spirit of gameness, the bird after being struck with the bullet, attacked Jordon, sinking its talon an inch into his arm, inflicting a painful flesh wound.

It was the first time in years that an American Eagle has been shot in the vicinity of Beaver. The bird is almost a perfect specimen of its kind. Its breast is beautifully marked in white and gold. People living in the vicinity of Vanport have seen the bird around several times, but it remained for Mr. Jordon to shoot it. The bird will be mounted. -
