P.&L.E. Accident
Milestones Vol 19 No 4 Winter 1994

The first serious accident on the P.&L.E. Railroad occurred in October of 1879, the first year of operation. Freight train no. 15 ran over a cow near the Bridgewater station. The engine and 12 loaded freight cars left the tracks and went over the embankment. A brakeman was killed and the engineer and fireman were critically injured.
