On one occasion a Mrs. Conley, who lived near Frankfort Springs, was returning home on a cold, snowy winter's night from the houseof asick neighbor. The wolf pack, which denned in the early spring, picked up herscent and began tofollowher. When she realized her danger, Mrs. Conley ran toward her home. Her husband, who heard her screams, fired into the pack, killing one wolf and dispersing the others.
