Gone, but not forgotten! Only eleven years have transpired since Brighton Avenue, in Rochester, saw these buildings. They were located on the present-day site of Kaufmann's, at the corner of Brighton Avenue and Madison Street. The paint store was first owned by the Gambles, followed by the William Helmick's and the Trumpeters before the buildings were demolished.
The building, on the right, was Emmett Powers General Store, Parkers Meat Market, Mrs. Fox's restaurant, prior to becoming the Democratic Headquarters for Musmanno, Clark, Kline, Hamilton and Lench.

The New floating bridge, nearing completion, replaces the old span on the right. The bridge stretches from the south bank of the Ohio River at West Aliquippa to Hog Island where many Victory Gardens were planted during World War II.
Today this channel is filled in and has created more usable land for further expansion of the Jones Et Laughlin Steel Plant.

Although we go back to 1894 for this photograph, the view would not be too different today. Penna. 68 - East to Unionville follows approximately the same route as this old road. Old-timers have identified the twohorse rig as one belonging to Dr. Burns.

We do not know where this church was located. The identification has been lost. Can you help us?
