To renew colors in a dingy oil cloth, wash with water in which Borax has been dissolved and then wipe with flannel dipped in milk and then ring dry as possible.

Snails can be destroyed in cellar or damp places by sprinkling coarse salt about.

Bacon drippings will kill and prevent bedbugs if sprinkled where bugs are.

Vasoline rubbed over new patent leather shoes will prevent cracking.

Salt should be eaten with nuts to aid digestion.

Ten drops of carbolic acid dropped in a pint of water and poured over flowers in a pot will kill all the earthworms.

A little castor oil added to earth of plants in pot is very beneficial to plants.

Paint can be removed from windows by washing with hot vinegar.

Clothes soaked in a tub of water over which has been poured a bowl of soapsuds in which four tablespoons of kerosene has been added, are easily washed.

Cistern water may be purified by putting charcoal in a bag and hanging in water.

Never allow fresh meat to stay in paper as it absorbs the juices.

If raisins become hard and crusty in a box that has been opened, soak in hot water a few minutes before using and this will restore their freshness.

Scald rhubarb a few moments before using and not so much sugar will be necessary in cooking.
