Vanport Police Department

The first police building was in Snitger's gas station at Elm and State streets. The second, at the home of Harry Drear. The third department met in Dewey Triance's home; next at State and Branch streets (where the first official township building stood) finally to State Street.

First police chief was Dewey Triance. Officers were Nick Puppich and C. Taylor. First constable was Emory Baker.

Second chief was Edward Barret; officers were Emory Baker, Bud Marsh, Gene Quigley and John Batko. William Raab was constable.

Present chief is Harry Flasko; officers are Emory Baker (deceased), Gene Quigley, John Batko, Ralph Welsh (moved), "Bucky" Welsh (deceased), Dan Marinkovich (resigned), Ben Fredericks, Robert King (now with Beaver Police Dept.), Theodore Willoughby, William Casbourne (resigned), Thomas Bobich, Kurt Koah (resigned), Mike Hurst and Dave Daudet. Cathy Foster and Karen Wallace are the school crossing guards.
