The pictures on this page were taken at the corner of Smith Ferry road and Route 68 near the border of Smith Ferry and Glasgow.
This is about all that is left of Smith Ferry, once a bustling community.
The top picture shows children crossing a trestle style bridge over Dry Run. The building obscured by trees was Rockport School. Notice the electric poles and lines running high over their heads.
The second picture shows a scene shot from Rockport School to the opposite side. Notice the men standing on a rather frightening suspension style bridge at the level of the electric poles shown in the first picture. I hope the children didn't have to use this bridge.
The left picture is the scene today. Once again Rockport School, now a home, is obscured by trees. A clearer shot of the school is seen to the right.
